Academic Advising - The academic advising unit provides students their advisor's name and contact information, course placement, campus adjustment support, Self Service training and course registration. Academic advising is completed through the college in which your degree program falls. You can also view degree requirements, South Dakota Board of Regents' requirements, institutional requirements, and academic policies through the SDSU Online Catalog.

First-year students, other than the two-year agricultural sciences program, pre-nursing, biology pre-professional and pre-pharmacy, will be advised in the First-Year Advising Center.

Alumni Association - The SDSU Alumni Association is an independent, not-for-profit organization, non dues association that welcomes all graduates, former students, faculty, staff and friends of South Dakota State, as well as students, to be SDSU Alumni Association members. The SDSU Alumni Associations connects alumni to SDSU and each other, through the promotion of the University and by providing valuable benefits, services and resources to our members.

Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratory - The lab provides high-quality veterinary diagnostic services and research to accurately establish causes and control of animal health problems. The work supports veterinarians and animal and human health officials, and plays a critical role in protecting South Dakota's multi-million dollar livestock industry.

American Indian Student Center - The American Indian Student Center is for the students who desire to experience campus diversity or connect with students from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

Card Services - The office issues the MyJacks Card, which is the official identification and access card for students, faculty and staff. The card is also used for Hobo Dough - a prepaid, stored-value account that is the convenient, cashless way to pay for purchases on and off campus.

Chemistry Help Center - The Chemistry Resource Room is a department resource to help students with chemistry concepts, homework and test preparation.

College Dean's Office - The College Dean's Office can be used for changing a major and creating petitions and appeals.

Computer Help - The Support Desk (Morrill Hall 131) can be used for questions about wireless internet access, difficulty setting up student email account or MyState, or any problems with computers or connectivity.

Counseling Services - The counseling services provided by SDSU can help with a numerous amount of things such as adjustments and transitions, relationship concerns, alcohol and drug dependency, stress management, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Dean of Students - The office of the Dean of Students can serve as an ombudsperson, deals with conflict prevention, and has bystander intervention training.

Disability Services - Disability Services is located in the University Student Union (Room 065). The office provides assistance for students with a wide range of disabilities.

Engineering Extension - Its mission is to assist the private and public sectors of the state with their technical safety and health needs for the purpose of saving costs for businesses and to benefit economic development. The OSHA Consultation Program is a key effort of Engineering Extension.

Facilities and Services - The support unit serves the University Community by maintaining the existing campus and supporting the expansion and growth of campus through project management and support.

Financial Aid Office - At the Financial Aid Office, the staff provides answers to the questions people may have about their financial aid. They are also able to determine how credit loads will affect financial aid and can check for work study eligibility.

Fraternity and Sorority Life - Fraternity and Sorority Life offer countless social connections that include multiple resume builders such as campus and community services.

Foundation - The South Dakota State University Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The SDSU Foundation’s efforts directly benefit the University by gathering support from private donors. The SDSU Foundation is the University’s largest private funding resource and directly impacts initiatives that grow and improve SDSU.

Housing and Dining Information - Housing information includes residence hall policies, roommate problems, information about services/campus resources, and success programming. Dining information includes meal plans and locations and hours of service.

International Students and Scholars - International Affairs offers international student orientations, interprets immigration regulations, issues official documents, and maintains records.

Intramural Sports - Intramural sports gives students the opportunity to get involved on campus and participate in wellness activities.

Jackrabbit Central - Shop on-line for all your Jackrabbits apparel and merchandise needs or visit us at one of our three locations: downtown, student union and stadium.

Jacks Club Hub - Interested in joining a student organization or attending a student event?

Jack's Cupboard - Jack's Cupboard combats food insecurity by ensuring those students who struggle financially to purchase food are provided this free resource supported by students, faculty and staff.

Legal Advice - Legal Aid is a free service regarding legal issues such as interpretations of leases.

Library Research - The Hilton M. Briggs Library offers many resources for research and offers assistance with research projects. They can also help with citing sources. The library provides study spaces for groups and individuals, public computers, laptop checkouts, printers and scanners. The library is home to a large variety of university archives and history as well as government information.

Math Help Center - The Math Help Center is a mathematics department resource to help students with math concepts, homework and test preparation.

McCrory Gardens - The gardens include more than 25 acres of formal display gardens & 45 acres of arboretum featuring hundreds of different flowers, trees, shrubs and grasses in harmonious settings to display, educate, and further the development of new varieties.

Miller Wellness Center- The Miller Wellness Center houses state of the art fitness equipment, a variety of recreational and intramural programs, effective wellness education, and a student health clinic and counseling services.

Multicultural Programs and Advising - The Office of Multicultural Affairs and Accessibility strives to have students experience campus diversity and intercultural awareness. Students can connect with other students and advisors from ethnically diverse backgrounds and participate in the Minority Peer Mentoring Program.

Music Programs - Music Programs offer vocal and instrumental music for credit or a co-curricular activity such as the Pride of the Dakotas marching band.

National Student Exchange Program - The National Student Exchange Program is for students who desire to experience other U.S. universities and colleges.

New Student Orientation - NSO provides great programs designed to help new students prepare for life at State, from academics to extracurriculars, and everything in between.

Off-Campus Housing - On-line resource to help students find housing off campus in Brookings and surrounding communities.

Office of Career Development - The office helps facilitate the transition from student to professional and connects students and employers. Services range from students exploring career options and job possibilities to employers posting jobs and conducting on-campus interviews.

Office of Information Technology - IT supports the campus community through advanced technology.

Office of Institutional Research & Assessment - Functions of the office help advance the university's mission by leading, coordinating, and supporting initiatives and projects related to institutional planning, assessment, and research.

Office of Safety and Security - Safety and security creates and maintains an environment where campus life and learning can thrive.

Office of General Counsel - The Office of General Counsel provides legal advice and services to the University President, officials, and employees on matters that involve or affect South Dakota State University consistent with the oversight of the South Dakota Board of Regents and its General Counsel.

Ombuds Office - The Ombuds Office is a private place to discuss your problems, concerns or complaints.

Online Courses and Resources - Distance Education can assist with registering for distance courses and provides resources to support distance student success.

Parking Services

Parking Services - Parking Services can be used for purchasing a parking permit for campus, pay a parking citation and finding other parking regulations and maps.

Performing Arts Center - The Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center serves SDSU and the Brookings Community as a joint use facility. It is the home for great concerts, theatre and events in the Larson Memorial Concert Hall, Fishback Studio Theatre and Founders Recital Hall.

Pride of the Dakotas - The Pride is the most visible band at SDSU, performing at events like Jackrabbits football games and presenting shows for the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers, as well as high school marching competitions in Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota. The Pride has marched in the Rose Bowl parade and performed at Presidential Inaugural Parades in Washington, D.C.

Prairie Repertory Theatre - PRT provides outstanding training for student company members and some of the best possible entertainment in the region.

Registrar's Office - The Enrollment Services Center helps with transcript requests, petition forms, and registration problems.

Residential Life - Living on campus is a jumpstart to students' learning and growth during their college careers at SDSU; residential students have everything they need to live, learning, and succeed conveniently located. Residence halls include furnished rooms, lounge areas, kitchens and laundry facilities.

Safety and Security - The University Police Department deals with emergency situations, escort assistance, and stolen property concerns. The emergency notification app, "Jackrabbit Guardian", is an app that when students sign up, they are notified on their cellular devices in case of an emergency situation.

Scholarship Info for Returning & Continuing Students - The Enrollment Services Center works with students about different scholarships such as the Jackrabbit Guarantee and SD Opportunity Scholarships, as well as other SDSU scholarship information.

South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum - We are a leader in the preservation of South Dakota agricultural history and in connecting multigenerational audiences to the importance of agriculture in their everyday lives.

South Dakota Art Museum - Since 1970, the South Dakota Art Museum in Brookings has been a place for people around the world to enjoy the artistic legacy of South Dakota in all its diversity.

SDSU Extension - The purpose of SDSU Extension is to foster a learning community environment that empowers citizens to advocate for sustainable change that will strengthen agriculture, natural resources, youth, families and the communities of South Dakota.

Pride of the Dakotas

South Dakota Transportation Assistance Program - The program develops and educates local government entities throughout the state by utilizing the latest highway and bridge technology. SDLTAP keeps local government officials informed about new publications, techniques and training opportunities that may benefit their communities.

Speech Center - The Department of Communications Studies (Pugsley 305) helps students practice speaking and gives feedback.

Student Health Clinic - Located in the Miller Wellness Center, the Student Health Clinic offers high-quality primary care services. Its mission is to promote the health and wellness of the university community.

Student Organizations - Jacks Club Hub is a place where students can get involved in campus activities and make social connections.

Student Success - The Wintrode Student Success and Opportunity Center has advisors for first-year and deciding students. They also offer tutoring, academic support, and study skills assistance.

Summer @ State - Summer activities are abundant on our campus for both kids and adults. We have a variety of camps for all ages, plus workshops adults can attend, too.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) - SI helps students improve their understanding of the course material and learn more effective study strategies.

Testing Center - The center provides a secure, comfortable and distraction-free environment for all testing. It is committed to ensuring safety, security of test materials and confidentiality of any personal information shared or provided to the staff.

Title IX - South Dakota State University has a well-established commitment to maintaining a campus environment free from discrimination and harassment, as articulated in federal and state law and University policy.

Transfer Credit Equivalency - SDSU Records and Registration helps students determine which courses completed at other colleges will apply towards credit at SDSU and helps students plan summer courses at colleges near home.

TRIO Programs - TRIO Student Support Services (Larson Commons 104) offers support for students with comprehensive academic difficulties, difficulties with the transition to college, peer mentoring, personalized assistance and referrals. Students must be first generation, low income, or have a documented disability.

Tutoring Program - The Wintrode Student Success and Opportunity Center (110) offers tutoring for select SDSU courses, improves understanding of course material, and teaches effective studying strategies.

University Marketing and Communications - UMC enhances and protects the institutional reputation of South Dakota State University; to advance and strengthen the institution’s brand; to encourage community engagement and to reinforce the university’s relevance to key audiences.

University Policy and Procedure Manual - Official policies and procedures of South Dakota State University. The University is governed by state and federal law, administrative regulations, and policies of the South Dakota Board of Regents (SDBOR) and the State of South Dakota.

University Student Union - Designed with students in mind, the University Student Union in the heart of campus is constantly buzzing.

Veterans Affairs Resource Center - The Veterans Affairs Resource Center assists military veterans, their family members and their survivors in obtaining all federal and state educational benefits and entitlements they have earned by serving in the United States military, and to provide guidance and support services that will aid veterans in their transition to academic and civilian life.

Wintrode Tutoring Program - Free tutoring services to all students to improve their understanding of course material, improve their grades, and increase their self-confidence in relation to course material. In order to do this, tutors will help you to better understand course content and help you develop study strategies to use in current and future courses at SDSU.

Writing Center - The Writing Center in Hilton M. Briggs Library (103) offers assistance with developing writing skills and answers questions about developing or improving any writing project.
